Alex Lifeson is the gutarist for the band Rush, playing both electric and acoustic gutairs extensivly. He is known to use employ a wide range of effects on his guitar sound and use a wide array of equipment. When the band Rush plays live he also performs the backing vocals. He can sometimes be heard playing various other stringed instruments, like the mandolin, throughout the bands career.

Alex Lifeson was born Alez Zivojinovic in British Columbia, Canada on August 27th, 1953. His stage name Lifeson is a rough translation of his real last name, Zivojinovic, which in Serbian means "Son of Life".

In 1968, Alex Lifeson founded the band Rush with friend and then current Rush drummer John Rutsey, they were joined shortly by Geddy Lee on bass and vocals.

Alex Lifeson has released one solo album, the 1996 album Victor. He can be heard most recently on the band Rush newest studio release, Snakes and Arrows and live album Snakes and Arrows Live
